Przesieka
Przesieka
Przesieka is a holiday village located between Karpacz and Szklarska Poręba on the hill Gold view with an altitude of 610 m above sea level.
Its location is attractive due to the fact that the hill separates the Czerwieñska and Podgórna streams, which form valleys, and from here you can admire a fantastic panorama of the Karkonosze ridge.
The first information about the existence of Przesieka comes from 1618, it’s also known that in 1632 the Emperor Ferdinand II Habsburg gave the village to the veteran of the 30-year war, Georg Andreas Schwinghammer.
Until
the end of the 19th century the inhabitants of the village dealt with
goat breeding, flax cultivation and the establishment of
orchards.
After the war the village was called Matejkowice due
to the paintings of Jan Matejko which were found in one of the
boarding houses and plundered by the Germans during the war, however
this name was changed in 1948 to Przesieka as we know it today.
For
many years the place has delighted tourists with its picturesque
views and wonderful surroundings.
They used to be an
inspiration for many artists creating their works here and these
were, among others, painter Adolf Dressler or painter and graphic
artist Erich Fuchs.
The
biggest attraction of the village is the Podgórna Waterfall, which
is the third highest waterfall in the Polish part of the Karkonosze
Mountains.
